Joshua Tree National Park
December 30-31, 2017
To wrap up our 2017, Erica, our good friend Alex, and I woke up at 2:30AM and drove a couple hours to JTree. We got lucky with a campsite at the much sought-after Jumbo Rocks Campground, and made some new friends from Utah who were looking for a place to crash, some rocks to climb, and some folks to play a few tunes with. Somehow, we all had some instruments, and we put on a little community concert which eventually drew a small crowd of comers and goers.
We hiked, scrambled, played plenty of music, read some books, and didn't realize it was 2018 until about 12:07AM. I can't think of a better way to welcome a New Year. Serendipity at its finest.
Here's a selection of images from our weekend. You'll see sunrises and sunsets, Jumbo Rocks, panos, Keys View, and not surprisingly, a few Joshua Trees. Some images are the same, with different color treatments. For a selection of BW images from this trip to JTree, please check out my Black & White album.
